Description: This centerline feature class contains pavement data for the roadways maintained by the City of Gaithersburg, MD. This includes IRI (AVG_IRI), rutting (RUT1, RUT2, representing rutting in each wheel path), PCI (Pavement Condition Index) for each segment, and the density percentage for each distress class (PCT_CLIMATE, PCT_STRUCTURAL and PCT_CONSTRUCTABLILITY). The Pavement Condition Index (PCI) was calculated utilizing VUEWorks® Asset Management Software (AMS). This AMS is based on the ASTM D6433 method of calculating a street segment’s pavement condition index value. ASTM D6433 is based on a 0 to 100 rating scale where 0 represents a failed roadway condition and 100 represent an excellent roadway condition.Typical PCI score and associated conditions are as follows:86-100 = Good71-85 = Satisfactory56-70 = Fair41-55 = Poor26-40 = Very Poor11-25 = Serious0-10 = FailedThe International Roughness Index (IRI) is the roughness index most commonly obtained from measured longitudinal road profiles. It is calculated using a surface profiling system with units of slope (inches/mile)Typica IRI ranges are as follows:<=127 = Excellent128-154 = Good155-240 = Fair241-489 = Marginal490-625 = Poor>625 = Very PoorRutting is a surface depression in the wheel path. Rutting steams from a pavement deformation in any of the pavement layers or subgrades. This is usually caused by consolidated or lateral movement of the materials due to traffic load. Typica Rutting ranges are as follows:1/4-1/2 = Low>1/2-1 = Medium>1 = High
